good starter art design is a simple flower; one dot in the center surrounded by five dots of either the same color or a different color. Another fun design that people rave about is the Zebra print; put one coat of a lighter color on your fingernail. Wait for that to dry, then apply stripes halfway across the nail from opposite sides as you go down the nail. Do not be afraid to use multiple colors for whatever design you are trying to do!

Once the design is finished, wait for it to dry completely and then apply the top coat. Making sure it is completely dry is important or else the application of the top coat will smear the design across your fingernail.
